Exciting news for whisky enthusiasts in Russia! Luding Group, a major Russian company, has signed an agreement with Scottish distiller Campbell Mayer to begin bottling Glendale whisky locally. This marks a significant milestone, as Glendale was previously only bottled in Scotland.
Production of this esteemed spirit is set to commence by the end of 2024 at the Kolomna Wine and Cognac Factory in the Moscow region. This move promises to bring the authentic taste of Scottish whisky closer to Russian consumers while potentially making it more accessible.
Campbell Mayer, known for its dedication to quality, produces seven brands of whisky, vodka, and gin. The company’s commitment to excellence is evident in their aging process, which utilizes new oak barrels as well as those infused with bourbon, port, and sherry. Glendale whisky, in particular, is crafted from a blend of malt and grain spirits sourced from renowned Scottish regions including Islay, Speyside, and Highland. The distillation process incorporates spring water from local sources, and the whisky is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of three years, ensuring a rich and complex flavor profile.
This development comes at an opportune time, as the Russian grain whisky market is experiencing significant growth. Production has increased by 30% and is projected to approach 10 million decaliters in 2024. This surge is primarily attributed to the expansion of domestic production capabilities.
